Betty went to Epsom Art School at 15, and went on to Heatherley School of Art to learn Animation. She later worked for Larkins, just off Berkeley Square, helping in the background department before leaving to do work in Television Advertising for Eagle Studios, a subsidiary of Rayant Pictures, in St. James' Place, London. This was where she came in contact with Lionel Pearce.

Years later, while she was working with us, an editor we worked with, Mike Crane, recognised her from the days he used to work for Richard Williams in Soho Square. He used to go down the road to the Two Eyes Coffee bar in Old Compton Street. Apparently Betty used to rush down there from Larkins to spend her lunch break jiving. She obviously made a lasting impression !

Later in her career Betty worked for Lionel Pearce at the Slough studio for a while before leaving to get married and have her children.

When the Studio expanded and was in need of extra talent Li suggested Betty. As her children were now older it suited her to return to work. She probably had in mind a 7-hour day and a 5-day week. As it turned out she very soon found herself working long hours like everyone else.

Betty is at heart a Fine Artist, a Painter, and her forte was painted backgrounds. In addition to extensive amounts of slave labour on many scenes (tracing, painting, spotting, darkroom work, registering, etc) the Golgafrincham's Tapestry was Betty's, and so was the drawing for the Bowl of Petunias and the planet surface towards which the Whale plummets.

When the Studio contracted to a one-man-band in 1984-85 she continued to work for Dave, then later turned to other areas of interest. In 1988 Betty enroled in a four year course in Homeopathy and Transpersonal Psychology. She qualified as a Homeopath in 1993. Betty also studied at the college of Psychic Studies and still works at the age of 85 doing telephone counselling, mostly about psychic problems.
