Hello All,
First of all I should apologise for the very long gap. I had intended that the gap should only be a
week during a short break to visit friends in France so that no auctions would come to completion
while we were actually away.
But as I know only too well and should not be surprised at by now life has the unnerving tendency
to raise unexpected obstacles and drop gremlins into the mix.

Hi All,
Had a very pleasant break staying for a few days in the Landmark Trust Saddell Castle on the Kintyre peninsula. Now back again and picking up as promised.
The Collection vs Separate survey being completely evenly balanced I have decided that I will go with my instinct and offer these animations as separate pieces with the intention and hope of spreading viable visual items a bit more evenly at a more affordable price each.

Hello All,
Really just to wish you all a very good Bank Holiday weekend and to update you on the Collection or Separate opinion survey. There were 38 submissions and amazingly the opinion was exactly split with 19 votes for each.
My own opinion leans in favour of splitting these collections to distribute them more widely and offer an opportunity to more people to own a piece. That would of course be after they have been scanned to keep a digital record and for possible future publication … possibly even by my heirs after I'm gone if they think anybody is still remotely interested.
Douglas would have been amused that the winning bid on the Dolphins camera dope sheets was a very appropriate £42.42 !
Thank you to all those who submitted their opinions and to all the bidders and winners, and to all of you for your continued interest demonstrated by the fact that I have not received mass requests to be removed from the mailing list.
There will be a short intermission - I will resume from the weekend of Sat May 7.

Hi All,
I had some shock news last week that some of you may have had via Facebook. My old mate and
assistant during the H2G2 work and up until 1984, Kevin Davies, was rushed into hospital for
emergency heart surgery. It was even more shocking because from my perspective Kev is a
relatively young man. Thankfully he came through the surgery ok and seems to be recovering well.
The votes on the "collection or separate" question are currently running at 13 for keeping stuff
together and 17 for offering separately. I will keep the URL below open till Wednesday if anyone
else still feels like adding their opinion.

Hi All,
Once again the sun is out here and another lovely day.
I've finally had a chance to return to wading through the contents of the next box and am coming across Babel Fish stuff and some of it 10 or 12 items making up various animated moves, like the Fish turning, etc.
In the past I have offered these sort of things, like the pencil animation in this pic, as a single collection
and kept them all together as one item. But I am pondering wether to offer them as separate single
items in order to distribute them more widely at more affordable prices.
It would be a great help if I could canvas opinion and ask you to please let me know what you think

I've come across a collection of stuff to do with Ford's "intergalactic teasing" approach to Earth …
or SOL3. Although there are a couple of cels with dots (planets !) most of this is actually text based.

Hello All,
Once again thank you all for showing such interest in this old stuff and thanks to the successful
bidders. I do hope you are all happy with what you end up with after shelling out so much dosh.
The next para is just a bit of gossip so please just skip it if you like.
Somebody asked me for a higher res picture of one that is included in the Nicholas Botti interview
which is linked to from the H2G2 page on my site. This was because the Dolphins storyboard is on
the wall in the photo and he was interested to try and see what the missing half page contained.
While trying to track that down I thought I would check the other external links. I discovered that the
BTTV interview on Youtube had been blocked by BBC Worldwide. I was a bit cross about that as
thanks to BBC Graphics in 1980 the BBC only own the rights to the animation in the form in which
it was used at that time … ie as part of a broadcast episode. As this item on Youtube is actually just
an interview with me about the making of the animation I couldn't fathom why they thought they
were justified in blocking it. As well as emailing everyone listed online in their legal department I
finally got an anonymous response from the online contact form I submitted from the BBC
Worldwide web site. They asked me questions about the item on Youtube and wanted to know
why on earth I felt I had any right to protest and please to quote the relevant clauses in my contract.
I referred them to their own archives - BBC Graphics 1980. Eventually I got a short note saying
"We have unblocked this for you Rod". Doing me a favour ? I still have been unable to find out
why they thought it was OK to do it in the first place. Anyway - it's now reinstated if anyone had
ever tried to follow that link unsuccessfully.
Looking at the remaining bits in the box I had been sifting through I thought they were looking a bit
thin … a few bits used for the currency sequence … some Flanian Pobble Beads … an infinity
symbol … that kind of stuff. So I thought I would start on the next box a bit early to see what it had.

It's possible that my assistant at that time, Kevin Davies, did the initial layout drawing for the
Dingo's Kidneys. I'm afraid I can't remember but I have an uneasy feeling that might be the case.
Generally I have tried to only post stuff that was mine or carried out to my design or art direction.
I've been putting the rest aside to be passed to the relevant individuals if they want it. Kevin's pile
is now quite substantial, including a load of stuff done for script covers, party invitations, showreel
bits, etc. I will ask him if he remembers and if it's his I will send him a % cut.
After saying I would do my best to post one or two items more regularly so that they don't happen
so much in clumps with gaps of nothing between I failed completely. I will try to do better. It's just
that my new second career sometimes gets in the way a bit !

I'm staggered at the value being placed on these pieces. Thank you.
I do intend to keep up the pace if I can to try and get the boxes cleared out of the studio so no
doubt that will tend to drop the values and give others with more modest budgets a chance to
get hold of something.
My apologies to the two buyers involved in my mixing up 4 Post Office bar codes and giving them
the wrong tracking numbers. I need to point out to eBay that I found it was impossible to correct
those numbers once entered on their system.

Hi All,
It's been 8 months now since I last communicated.
During that time a few people have contacted me to ask when more original material might again become available.
To each of them I have replied "... soon ..." and to a couple even suggested it would be within a week or two.
To those of you who got those replies I do apologise - my intention was not to mislead you but circumstances seem to have been conspiring against it throughout this last year.
It's been a rather naff couple of years really.
I will eventually give you an update for any who might be interested ... but not now, as this is the season to be Merry and Festive.
For the moment I just want to wish you all a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2016.
I will be starting to sort through the artwork boxes again during January and will be posting on eBay before the end of Jan.
Once there are a couple of items listed I will send out a short update as mentioned above.
